  • Can I become pregnant after breast augmentation?

Yes. Breast implants do not prevent pregnancy. However, pregnancy can naturally change the size, shape and position of your breasts and may affect the cosmetic result of your breast augmentation.

  • What happens if I become pregnant shortly after breast augmentation?

Breast implants themselves are not expected to negatively affect pregnancy. However, pregnancy can change the breast tissue and skin, which may alter the appearance of your breasts and the position of the implants.

If you become pregnant after breast augmentation, discuss your individual situation with your doctor.

  • Can I breastfeed with breast implants?

Many women are able to breastfeed after breast augmentation. However, breastfeeding ability can be affected by factors such as the surgical technique, incision location and individual anatomy. If breastfeeding is important to you, discuss this with your surgeon before surgery.

  • Can I have a mammogram after breast augmentation?

Yes. Women with breast implants can still undergo routine breast cancer screening. Always tell the radiology centre that you have breast implants. Special mammography techniques may be used to obtain images of as much breast tissue as possible. Breast cancer screening is separate from examinations used to monitor the condition of breast implants.

  • Do I need regular examinations of my breast implants?

Yes. Breast implants should be monitored throughout the time you have them.

For silicone gel-filled implants, current recommendations include imaging to check for silent rupture. The FDA recommends the first ultrasound or MRI approximately 5–6 years after implantation and then every 2–3 years.

MRI may be recommended if you have symptoms or if an ultrasound result is unclear.

These examinations are separate from routine breast cancer screening.

  • Do breast implants need to be removed or replaced?

Not necessarily. There is no fixed date when every breast implant must be removed or replaced. However, implants are not lifetime devices. Some women eventually need additional surgery because of implant rupture, capsular contracture, changes in the breasts following pregnancy or weight changes, or simply because they wish to remove or replace their implants.

  • Can my breasts change after pregnancy or significant weight loss?

Yes. Breast tissue and skin naturally change with pregnancy, breastfeeding, ageing and significant changes in body weight.

These changes can affect the size, shape and position of the breasts and may also affect the appearance of the implants.

  • Can I travel by plane after breast augmentation?

Air travel is usually possible once your surgeon considers you fit to travel, but the timing depends on your recovery and the length of the journey. If you are travelling home after surgery, we will advise you about the appropriate timing and precautions. During longer journeys, regular movement and adequate hydration are particularly important.

  • How long should I stay in Prague after breast augmentation?

For international patients, we generally recommend allowing enough time in Prague for your initial recovery and postoperative check-ups. The exact length of stay depends on your procedure, recovery and surgeon's recommendations. Your patient coordinator will help you plan your stay before surgery.

  • Can I travel alone for breast augmentation?

For your safety and comfort, we recommend arranging someone to accompany you or assist you during the first days after surgery, particularly if you are travelling internationally. If you are travelling alone, please discuss this with your patient coordinator before your procedure so that appropriate arrangements can be considered.

  • What happens if I have a problem after returning home?

If you experience unusual pain, swelling, redness, fever, wound problems or other concerning symptoms after returning home, contact our team as soon as possible.

We can communicate with your surgeon and advise you on the appropriate next steps. If you experience severe or potentially life-threatening symptoms, seek emergency medical care immediately.
